Overview
The Langtang Valley is one of Nepal's most beautiful and least-crowded trekking destinations. Just north of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border, the valley is home to the Tamang people, ancient monasteries, and peaks rising above 7,000 meters. The trek winds through dense rhododendron and bamboo forests, past yak pastures and high-altitude cheese farms (the Kyanjin Gompa area is famous for its yak cheese), and up to ridges with sweeping views of Langtang Lirung (23,711 ft), Dorje Lakpa, and the Tibetan plateau beyond. For those wanting a Himalayan trekking experience without the crowds of the Khumbu, Langtang is an excellent choice. The culture is deeply Tibetan Buddhist, the pace is unhurried, and the scenery is world-class. Custom dates available — contact us to plan your trip.
